Pinewood Derby: Saturday, February 22, 2025, 9am-2:30pm
Where: Mt Olivet UMC Fellowship Hall
Pit Crew Needed:
We need volunteers to make the day a success, from checking in cars to donating snacks for our bake sale to running the race to cleanup. Please sign up to be part of our pit crew: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0A4BA9A72CA1FECE9-54701760-2025#/
Car check-in:
Derby cars must be officially weighed and checked-in by 8:00 PM on Friday, February 21, at the front lobby of Avalon Arlington North (2105 N. Glebe Rd).
Sign up for your official weigh-in time on Friday night: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0A4BA9A72CA1FECE9-54814870-2025
We greatly appreciate having your car 100% complete and ready to check-in when you arrive on Friday night (e.g. correct weight - 5 oz maximum, a cool name, dry paint, graphite lubricant already applied, etc.). If your vehicle still needs work, it won’t be able to be part of the race.
You are highly encouraged to check your car’s weight prior to Friday’s weigh-in. The official scale will be available at Avalon Arlington North (2105 N. Glebe Rd) on Thursday, 2/20/25, from 5:30-6:15 PM. Stop by for a quick weight check.
Race Schedule:
We’ll follow the below schedule (each race lasts about an hour). For those wishing to watch their cars race, please arrive 10 minutes before your race starts (please do not come earlier). Scouts should be in their Class A uniforms. We need Scouts to move to the winner’s circle area as soon as racing ends, making space for the next Rank.
Those not attending the race in-person are welcome to come to the Winner’s Circle at Mt. Olivet UMC anytime after their race ends for a picture and to pick up their car, certificate, and any awards they may have won. If you have Scouts in two different ranks, you may bring them both to the later Winner’s Circle time slot.

Although encouraged, Scouts don’t need to be present on Saturday to participate - they can check-in their car Friday night and still be part of the racing (and the Scout can still win awards). We will not have a virtual option.
Bake Sale Fundraiser:
We'll have fuel for parents and kids for sale during the races to help support pack activities. Remember to bring cash to the race to get your race-themed snacks. And please sign-up to donate snacks.
Rules:
Pack 167 follows the official rules set forth by the Chain Bridge District, located here. Most important is to not exceed 5 oz, but get as close to that weight as possible. Canted wheels are not allowed and the pre-cut slots MUST be used.

Dens are encouraged to attend together, as able. The Pack needs to provide an adult to act as a Shop Assistant throughout the session.
